Michael Ian Black also made a video from the perspective of a fed up great white (above) in Comedy Central's #SnarkWeek. Black has a great new standup special, "Michael Ian Black: Very Famous," which will premiere this Saturday, August 6th, at 11pm on Comedy Central. Conan O'Brien presents his team's take on the whole Shark Week thing too (below).

"The Long Shot Podcast" is a lot of fun, and the crew of Sean Conroy, Eddie Pepitone, Amber Kenny, and Jamie Flam often have great guests from the world of comedy and television so the show is well worth the subscription and I'm a fan. I'm such a fan that I sent the team a movie pitch about them that show host Sean Conroy kindly read in full in this episode (he starts at about 28 minutes in but listen to the whole episode).

I'm glad to report that the writers of the Onion News Network have officially joined the Writers Guild of America, East (WGA-East). This is significant because the writers were not getting the kind of benefits and protection they will now receive under the umbrella of the WGA-East. Not to say that I thought the producers of "The Onion News Network" were trying to pull a fast one - on the contrary, there's a lot of infrastructure that is difficult to maintain independent of an organization like the WGA. Congrats to ONN - now your show will be even better, looking forward to the September 30 premiere.

NBC, a nemesis of mine when it comes to their sports programming, will be changing the name of subsidiary Versus, another nemesis of mine when it comes to sports programming, to NBC Sports Network on January 2nd. What has yet to be explained is how the conglomerate will provide good sports programming over NBC, NBC Sports Network, and Universal Sports. Of the three, Universal Sports seems to be able to do the most with the least but the network isn't available to the majority of TV viewers in the US. It's my opinion that Universal Sports should have taken over Versus and cleaned out the slate but then again I'm not a high-powered network executive because look at what a fantastic job NBC has done with sports #sarcasm.
