TV Junkie: New Blah Logo from NBCUniversal; 'Archer' Is Back!

The new NBCUniversal logo courtesy of Comcast. [Yawn] Both boring and unidentifiable.
We're not sure there could have been a more stupid move at this time of media upheaval than Comcast's move to eliminate the NBC "peacock" from the new NBCUniversal logo. Yes, the multicolor peacock fan was a throwback to the time when TV moved from black and white to color but the many feathers symbolized the varied programming of the network and the network is the most identifiable part of the conglomerate. Not only is the new logo mind-numbingly boring, it's going to be impossible to discern on everything from business cards to Twitter icons. Up until this point, all you had to see was the fan (in monochrome even) to know that you were looking at something associated with the NBC.
Congrats, NBCUniversal, on your dumbest move since the Conan debacle. Did Dick Ebersol weigh in on this too?

Tonight we welcome the return of "Archer" to FX at 10pm. We saw the first three episodes of this new season last Summer and even though that was a million years ago we remember them as being very very funny (check out our vid of the "Archer" promo pack above). The spy spoofing animated series mows down any topic with risque and potentially offensive (if you are a P.C. nazzy) humor that is as bracing as it is refreshing.

Will Ferrell will be joining the cast of "The Office" for a few episodes as Steve Carell transitions out of the series at the end of this season. On the one hand, it will be a lot of fun to see Ferrell on TV again, on the other hand this seems to be a cynical ploy to maintain viewership of the series as Carell vacates it to officially become a movie star. We still love the show and cast, so we will be watching.
