Tonight at 9pm on Discovery, President Obama presents the "MythBusters" team with a challenge to recreate, on a much larger scale, a weapon from ancient Greece

Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin posted a condemnation of Sarah Palin's TLC show on Huffington Post today. While we've seen animals killed on shows like "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" on the Travel Channel, those were ostensibly for the purpose of the travelogue and preparing a specific meal. Sorkin is right that the killing of wildlife in Palin's show was for a political purpose because the entire show is a political vehicle for Palin. We don't write about the show because it is bereft of any redeeming qualities. TLC should be ashamed. We haven't listed a TLC program in quite a while, let's put the network officially on our boycott list.

A few weeks ago we interviewed cinema icon Isabella Rossellini (no, we can't believe it either) to talk about her "Green Porno: Seduce Me" series for the Sundance Channel. While these educational and hilarious short films went live on the Sundance website, tonight at 8pm they will be broadcast on your much-larger television screen.

Job Security for The TV Junkie: Despite Hulu, Kinect, the iPad, the newest smartphones, and a rise in home-crafting, Americans are watching more TV: 280 minutes a day. That's a 3 minute increase over last year. Keep reading The TV Junkie to find out what to watch.---
Congrats to "Men of a Certain Age" for their Writers Guild of America nomination for Best New Series. Written by Bridget Bedard, Warren Hutcherson, Rick Muirragui, Jack Orman, Ray Romano, Mike Royce, Lew Schneider, Mark Stegemann. In the same voice, shame on the WGA for not honoring "Terriers" with a similar nomination.

We're still a bit depressed by the death of Palle Huld, the alleged (and probable) inspiration for Tintin. Huld did live to the ripe old age of 98 but the perpetually adolescent boy reporter version of him lives on. We're not convinced that the Tintin movie by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, schedule to open later this month, won't completely fuck up this beleoved character.
