When we wrote about TBS' launch of "Conan" last week, we mentioned New York Times writer Bill Carter's book The War for Late Night: When Leno Went Early and Television Went Crazy. Carter was interviewed today from 2:30pm-3pm on KCRW by our favorite interviewer, Elvis Mitchell, on "The Treatment". Hopefully the podcast of the interview will be up immediately on "The Treatment" website. Carter himself is a great source of information on late night TV but look to Mitchell to get into some compelling discussions with him.
How do you think "Conan" is going? It was never our impression that O'Brien was going to remake television as we know it, we just wanted him back on TV. If "Conan" isn't what you were expecting, what were you expecting? What could he do better? How does "Conan" rank, in terms of content and performance, compared to: Leno, Letterman, Ferguson, and Fallon?
