We survived the weekend of 21 premieres by carefully picking what we'd watch but Sunday was the big night. Did you watch "Dexter" and "Bored To Death" like we did? What'd you think? If you watched something else, tell us about it. If you missed "Dexter" look for the embed of the episode at the end of this post. We were amused that the New York Times finally got around to interviewing Jonathan Ames, something we've done both in Venice and New York this month, the Grey Lady can suck it. If you missed the first episode of "Bored To Death" you can watch it right now on the HBO iPad and iPhone app among other platforms.Thank goodness that premieres have slowed to a trickle as we've got some red-rimmed eyes. It's also nuts that there are already show-saving campaigns, like "Save 'Lone Star'" as series are already being marked for cancellation after debuts that have garnered lower viewership than what the network wanted. Now we'd never suggest that just because critics like a show, the show should be kept regardless of any other factors but it always amazes us that a show that has several episodes already completed can have the rug yanked out from underneath it after just one or two airings. Wasn't the development and programming of the show an executive decision at the network? Why the hell don't those people get yanked as well? After all, it's they who wasted everybody's time.

While "Lone Star" (Fox @ 9pm) wasn't a huge standout for us this Fall, the story of the man living a double life was definitely more interesting than the majority of new dramatic programming, and for a premise as complicated as it presents, it takes several episodes for the momentum to really get going. Fox should give the show a chance and let it develop - what else are they going to do? Rerun last season's "House"?
We're excited to see "Top Gear" returning tonight (BBC America @ 9pm) - check out the video at the end of the post of James May attempting to drive a Toyota pick-up up the side of an active volcano.
