TV Junkie: World Cup on Big Screen + Free Food & Drinks? Count Us In; Tour de France Hits Alps on Sunday; 'True Blood' Returns!
This weekend brings about the conclusion of the World Cup and if you're into it, consider heading to the Paley Center for Saturday and Sunday's games where they will be showing the broadcast on the big screen and serving food and drinks, all for free, RSVP required. As the World Cup winds down, the Tour de France is heating up with an epic first stage in the Alps set for Sunday - you'll have to get up early though as expanded coverage begins at 4:30am on Versus. Tip: Use your DVR, get up at 6am and fast forward through the endless commercials and idiotic NBC-style fluff bits that Versus thinks is necessary for broadcasting the Tour de France in the USA.
Sunday also brings the much anticipated return of "True Blood" after its 4th of July hiatus - many people are still in shock at the "twisted" (har-dee-har-har) conclusion of the June 27th episode and are wondering how the series can top that. We'll soon find out.
The TV Junkie Plan: Tonight - "PBS NewsHour", "Friday Night Lights", "The Neistat Brothers", "The Soup", Leno (VP Biden, Chris Isaak). Saturday - Tour de France, World Cup: Germany vs Uruguay, "Doctor Who". Sunday - Tour de France, World Cup: Netherlands vs Spain, "True Blood", "Hung", "Entourage".
