TV Junkie: How You Likin' NBA Finals Coverage? Reality TV Winners Burned
Hey Spuds, DEVO plays Letterman tonight! [Photo by Thomas Attila Lewis]
Tonight we'll have the 6th Lakers vs. Celtics game in the finals: what's your assessment of how ABC has been in their broadcast of the series? We haven't been blown away by the lackluster game calling but how could it have been improved?
Atom.com's got a couple of new web shows going including "Johnny B. Homeless" starring SNL's Kenan Thompson (see the embed at the end of the post) and "Stay-At-Home-Dad", which chronicles the life Brandon, a 37 year-old guy who just lost his finance job and finds himself with playing an anti-Mr. Mom (see embed at the end of the post).
You'd think that for all the humiliation that reality-TV show contestants would be getting a little something but it turns out, according to the Daily Beast's investigation of 20 popular reality shows that the "winners" rarely walk away with anything of substance: fine print and government taxes can reduce monetary compensation to virtually nothing and promised jobs and promotional opportunities have a knack for falling through mysteriously. Think about that the next time Joe Rogan urges you to eat some fermenting pig anuses.
Does anyone else find it weird that Gary Coleman hasn't been buried or cremated yet? The guy died over 2 weeks ago. It reminds us of James Brown being put on ice for almost 3 months after passing away on Christmas Day 2006.
We talked up the season finale of "Breaking Bad" enoughyesterday but the numbers have come in showing that the series was up 22% in viewers over last year. Also, the show has (finally) officially been renewed for a 4th season.
It ain't just a USA thing: The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will be seen in over 150 countrieswhen they air on August 29th.
