Weekend EditionThis weekend marks the season premiere of "Doctor Who" tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC America, so check out our interview today with the series star Matt Smith and his sidekick, Karen Gillan. This weekend also marks the close of Discovery's nature mini-series "LIFE" which has been excellent. We've found ourselves lining up friends with HD TVs to get the full effect of the beautiful footage captured in each episode.
They're shooting the 8th Annual TV Land Awards this weekend and Betty White will have a featured appearance there (see our interview with Betty at the SAG Awards) - in honor of that appearance as well as the demise of "Ugly Betty" please see the "Ugly Betty White" spoof vid at the end of this post. The TV Land Awards will air on April 25th - we will remind you.
It's official, NBC lost $223 million on the Winter Olympics. After bearing witness, in person in Vancouver, to NBC's mismanagement of the broadcast of the games, we think it's time to let someone else take a swing at it. Hopefully when Comcast takes over NBC next year, they will but the kibosh on NBC's rumored plans to bid for control of the games through 2030.
Our friend Greg Proops will have a new EP in June out on the A Special Thing where he currently has "Greg Proops: Elsewhere" available. We understand that the new disc, "Proops Digs In, is "Vintage Proopage" which is great because you'd normally have to go hunting for that stuff on La Rive Gauche in Paris.
The TV Junkie Plan: Tonight - "Attack of the Show", Bill Maher, "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution", "The Soup", Fallon (Tracy Morgan, "Diggnation", The Flaming Lips!). Saturday - "Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide", "Doctor Who", Graham Norton (Christina Ricci, Ricky Gervais), "SNL" (Ryan Phillippe hosts, Ke$ha performs).
