TV Junkie: Two Incredible Premieres on Sunday - 'Life' on Discovery / 'Breaking Bad' on AMC
Weekend EditionThis weekend has two highly anticipated premieres on Sunday night. Discovery begins airing its miniseries "Life" - an incredible and lushly filmed nature series that took more than 4 years to complete. We've seen the first several episodes and they are jaw-dropping. If you have a friend with an HD TV, go to their house and force them to watch the series, take a bottle of wine, whatever it takes! We only question why they chose Oprah Winfrey to narrate the episodes - her voice lends no value to the presentation, they should have stuck with a more capable and faceless narrator. [Check out the crazy promo Discovery sent me at the end of this post]
Thankfully Discovery's back-to-back airings of "Life" end at 10pm so that we can watch the season 3 premiere of AMC's "Breaking Bad". Bryan Cranston has won back-to-back Emmys for his role as Walter White, the high school chemistry teacher turned meth kingpin and his co-star Aaron Paul was nominated last year for his role as drug-dealer lost boy Jessie Pinkman. The acting is superb, the writing is exceptional, and Cranston directs the season premiere, repeating what he did with season 2's premiere which was riveting. Please watch these shows - you will not be disappointed.
Stay tuned for our coverage of the "Breaking Bad" season 3 premiere event at Times Square in NYC from earlier today where we spoke with Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and series creator Vince Gilligan (of "X-Files" fame).
Tonight at 11pm Comedy Central presents Donald Glover of "30 Rock" and "Community" fame - his stand up is great, check it out and check out our interview with him a couple weeks ago at PaleyFest2010.
The TV Junkie Plan: Tonight - Bill Maher, "Caprica", "The Soup", "Comedy Central Presents Donald Glover", "Nightline" (Jamie Oliver), Fallon (Ted Danson, Air performs). Saturday - "The Dish", "Survivors". Sunday - "Life", "Breaking Bad".
