LAist relies on your reader support, not paywalls.
Freely accessible local news is vital. Please power our reporters and help keep us independent with a donation today.

For all you "Battlestar Galactica" fans (ourselves included) be sure to get your donations in at the "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" during its first hour before switching over to Syfy for the series premiere of "Caprica". Devotees of almost every other network out there will have to settle in for the benefit, and it might be worth it as there is quite a line up of celebrities and musical performers.
We will be reporting live from the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards tomorrow, starting at 3pm Pacific via @TheTVJunkie as well as supplemental help at @LAist. Check out our interviews with Scott Bakula ("Men of a Certain Age") and Lauren Velez ("Dexter") that we posted today and look for more video here tomorrow morning as we will be attending SAG events today as well. The broadcast of the awards begins at 8pm on TNT and TBS.
Tonight is the last episode of the Conan O'Brien version of "The Tonight Show" on NBC before it reverts back to the Jay Leno version. We predicted there would be problems with putting Leno on at 10pm as far back as December of 2008 but we never dreamed that NBC would make such a complete and utter screw up of things. How much more does Jeff Zucker have to screw up before the board cans his ass (and throw Dick "The Dick" Ebersol out while you're at it)?We will probably see Conan back on TV by September and probably on Fox, which we can't wait for, but there are a lot of people out there who have vowed to not only boycott Leno, but NBC in general, and it will take a lot of wooing to bring them back. People won't forget a display as embarrassing as this for a long, long time and the fact that Zucker and his other higher-ups are combative and dismissive instead of being apologetic gives you an indication of their lack of respect for their customers.
TV on DVD: The 3rd season of "Damages" premieres on Monday on FX but you can grab the complete 2nd season on DVD as of this week - lots of creator and actor interviews and commentary and other extras (review pending).
Uber-weatherman Jim Cantore is launching a new show on The Weather Channel this Sunday at 7:00pm, "Cantore Stories", in which he travels to extreme climates and meets the people who survive and thrive there. Check out our interview with him last year and check out the show, it's always good to have a 7pm option on Sundays.
The TV Junkie Plan: Tonight - "Attack of the Show", "Hope for Haiti Now" (1st hour), "Caprica", Conan, Fallon. Saturday - "16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards" (please follow us at @TheTVJunkie for updates from the event), Graham Norton. Sunday - Football, "Big Love".
