"The Philanthropist" premieres at 10pm on NBC
We loved HBO's "Rome" and its Marc Anthony, James Purefoy, is playing the lead in NBC's "The Philanthropist" which premieres tonight. The series is getting major hype but we haven't received any screeners from NBC which makes us suspicious that the show isn't all its cracked up to be. Purefoy's involvement is enough to get us interested in the first episode - we know we can always switch over to "Gordon Ramsay's F Word" on BBC America if "The Philanthropist" falls short.
AMC is continuing its effort to create more original content by ordering 12 episodes of "Rubicon", a political thriller starring Miranda Richardson and James Badge Dale. Other cast members include Lili Taylor, Dallas Roberts and Peter Gerety, whom we won't see until the premiere, sometime in 2010.
There was a pretty goodtribute to Ed McMahon on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" last night as well as some interesting photos of "The Tonight Show" at its original location in New York City that were aired on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon". Rest in peace Ed McMahon. The TV Junkie Plan: "Wipeout", "The Philanthropist", "Reno 911!", Conan, Fallon.
