Tonight in Rock: Airborne Toxic Event Needs Bigger Venues

Billy Bragg visits El Rey tonight | Photo by Tracey Ashfield via his MySpace page
It's still a week away from the Airborne Toxic Event's Spaceland show and tickets are already sold out, they wrote in an e-mail annoucement. "Advance tickets for our show at Spaceland on Tuesday, June 17th are sold out. Spaceland is saving 100 tickets for sale at the doors which open at 8:30. We highly recommend you get there early if you'd like those. Also, Indie 103.1 will be giving away tickets on air. We'd love to see you there..." Less than six months ago, Airborne Toxic Event was just starting to get noticed as they played through their January residency at Spaceland, eventually gaining so much popularity throughout the month, the last show left hundreds of fans on the sidewalk.
Also, did everybody see the video of Beck at last night's show? It was a secret invite-only show. Even the LA Times' Soundboard blog printed a story about it, but quickly took it down during the day yesterday.
