Tonight in Rock: Brad Mehldau

Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

One of the best jazz pianists and composers in town is playing tonight at El Rey. If you've never heard what Brad Mehldau does, pick up an album, preview it on iTunes, just make sure to get to know this local a little bit. He even has a tune called "Los Angeles."

Also, a great indie folk-country band has their CD release party today -- I See Hawks In L.A. They take the stage with The Chapin Sisters and others at today's Grand Ole Echo music and BBQ show, which starts at 5:00 p.m.
