Joe Torre announced today that the opening day starter for your Los Angeles Dodgers is Hiroki Kuroda on April 6 in San Diego. Kuroda who went 9-10 with a 3.73 ERA last season only went 3-8 on the road. One of those road victories however was against San Diego. If the rotation goes as planned, Chad Billingsley would be the starter for the home opener against the San Francisco Giants on April 13.

With that taken care of, the question now is who the fifth starter will be. Jason Schmidt is officially out of the running leaving Eric Stults, Eric Milton, Claudio Vargas and Shawn Estes who all have struggled during spring. Of course there is speculation that the Dodgers could bring back 37-year old Pedro Martinez undoing one of the worst trades ever made by the Dodgers. However starting pitching shouldn't be based on sentimental blathering.
