Irish actor Pierce Brosnan had a long night as a fire damaged part of his beachfront Malibu home.Brosnan and his family were alerted by smoke alarms around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday night of a fire in their home on the 31100 block of Broad Beach Road. It took 20 firefighters almost 40 minutes to knock down the blaze, which started in the garage according to NBC 4. The actor and his family were able to safely get out.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department estimates that the fire caused $1 million in damage to the garage and a bedroom. According to KTLA, this is the second time a fire has hit the property. "Their last house totally burned down several years ago, then it took them several years to build this house," neighbor Andy Stern told the station.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
