Photos: Marvel Heroes And Mermaids At WonderCon 2017
This past weekend, WonderCon 2017 descended on the Anaheim Convention Center for the yearly summit of all things comics. WonderCon is ComicCon's younger sibling, having moved down to Southern California from Oakland a few years ago after its Bay Area home started undergoing construction. It focuses less on international representatives and more on smaller publishers. Television and movies have a strong presence at WonderCon, but it doesn't dominate the event the way Marvel and DC's panels do at ComicCon. Also, naturally, cosplay is a major component of the weekend's festivities.
This year's event featured a diverse set of programming including panels with creators, writing workshops, series premieres, discussions on the future of comics, and more. It was also a chance for fans to show off their best cosplay, dressing up as characters like Deadpool, Mary Poppins, Wonder Woman, and more.
Next year's WonderCon will take place March 23-25, 2018. ComicCon 2017 takes place July 20-23 in San Diego.
