TAG Gallery in Santa Monica opens three solo showstoday: Pam Douglas’ The Life of Fire; Julienne Johnson’s TOUCH ME TOUCH YOU and Camey McGilvray’s Upheaval. The shows remain up through Aug. 11 with an opening reception on Saturday from 5-8 pm and an artists’ talk on July 25, 7-8 pm.LAUNCH PARTY
There’s a launch party at ARTBOOK @ Paper Chase tonight at 7 pm for the release of Gainsbourg: The Biography. The evening’s a tribute to Gainsbourg, the French singer, songwriter, poet, composer, artist and actor. The evening features Gainsbourg videos and music, and a discussion with author Gilles Verlant, translator Paul Knobloch and Tam Tam publisher Tosh Berman.
TALK
The Skirball Center and Book Soup present the program Chuck Palahniuk—Invisible Monsters Remix tonight at 8 pm at the Skirball. Invisible Monsters Remix is Palahniuk’s (Fight Club, Choke, Rant) latest release, in which he adds new material and design elements that complete the author’s original vision for his 1999 novel, Invisible Monsters, a satire on beauty and the fashion industry. Free, but reservations highly recommended.
SEXY STORIES
Tonight at 9 pm, NerdMelt hosts an evening of Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction, a comedy show created and hosted by Bryan Cook. Tonight 10 comics write and perform erotic fan fiction pieces, based on their imagination or audience suggestions. Last month's dirty stories focused on topics such as Seinfeld, Night Rider and Occupy Wall Street. How sexy is that? $10 at the door

The Moth’s Eastside edition holds its StorySlam tonight at 7:30 pm at Los Globos on Sunset. With the theme judgementstorytellers are asked to prepare a five-minute story about opinionated conclusions, both right and wrong. No reading from notes and no stand-up. Doors open at 7 pm. $8 at the door or $16 in advance (guarantees early-admittance entrance).
FILM*
Cinefamily screens the 1920 silent film The Golem with live guitar accompaniment by Grammy-nominated Gary Lucas. He’s been performing his solo live score since 1989, sonically highlighting the exemplary German expressionist film about the 16th Century Bohemian folk legend of Prague. A monster molded out of clay is brought to life by a rabbi wishing to defend a Jewish ghetto facing exile. 7:30 pm. Tickets: $18.
