Pencil This In: Thursday

Sometimes too much holiday cheer is a very, very bad thing. Especially the liquid kind. Hence, the lateness of today's column. But here's the down and dirty on what's happening around town tonight:
SPECTACULAR: The Super Sexy Christmas Spectacular takes place at El Cid tonight with Terry Beeman's Hollywood Pin-up Girls' burlesque dance showcase. Tapas. Drinks. Flamenco. Sounds like a very dangerous combo. We're in.
10 pm // El Cid, 4212 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles // $20.
THEATRE: For something less sexy and more spiritual check out La Virgen de Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin. It's performed in Spanish with music and dance, and retells the story of the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the Indian peasant Juan Diego in the hills of Tepeyac. Because of its universal message of faith, love and perseverance, the pageant appeals to diverse people, regardless of race, language or religion.
8 pm // New LATC - Theatre 1 // 514 S. Spring St., Los Angeles // $15-$28.
READING: A Noise Within's Annual Holiday Tea & Reading fundraiser features a concert reading of an original adaptation of Charles Dickens’ "The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain." Proceeds go to the troup's educational program.
6:30 pm // A Noise Within // 234 S Brand Blvd., Glendale // $60.
COMEDY: Acme Comedy'simprovisational troupe X-Ray Company continues its comedic soap opera "Scandal!" that takes place in a little town called Little Valley. We wonder if Jamie Lyn will get any mentions tonight?
8:30 pm // Acme Comedy Theatre // 135 N. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles // $10.
