The Long Beach Aquarium's Otter Bowl Will Be Cuter Than The Puppy Bowl

Who needs the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl?

This Sunday, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach will be hosting their second annual Otter Bowl, where the aquarium's resident sea otters will be tossing the ol' pigskin around and vying for the coveted MVP trophy.

Instead of Peyton Manning, Cam Newton or Von Miller, Charlie, Betty and Brooke will be the participants in Otter Bowl II, as they play with several balls (including ones made out of clams, according to the L.A. Times). If you find the rules of otter football a little too complicated—like many people do with real football—there'll be an aquarium docent giving the play-by-play and also dropping many cool facts about sea otters.

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. in the Northern Pacific Gallery, but don't forget that there are thousands of animals for you to check out at the aquarium to serve as your pre-game warmup.

Here's video from last year's Otter Bowl I, and it's about as cute as you'd expect:

And if you're curious about what Charlie the otter has picked for the real, less-important Super Bowl:

Otter pick for the Big 2016 Game!Sea otter pick for the Big Game! What do you think? Will you watch on TV or come and watch our very own Otterbowl II live on Sunday?

If you excuse the cross-sport metaphor, this event sounds like it'll be a real slam dunk!
