Madonna's "Sex" Book Bustiers, Sharon Tate's Engagement Ring, and Elvis Presley's Pants Just Some of the Pop Culture Treasures Up For Auction

Some people's cast-offs are other people's treasures, and that is no more profoundly true when it comes to the impressive catalog of celebrity memorabilia coming up for auction in a few days via the Rock & Roll Pop Culture Auction.

The online auction, which opens up on November 30, includes hundreds of music memorabilia, from signed documents, posters, concert items, and clothing and more. You can own Madonna's outfits as worn in her infamous "Sex" book, there's the requisite Michael Jackson merchandise, and items from The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, and, yep, even some of Elvis Presley's pants (and other gear). For those with pockets deeper than what sends most of us to the Goodwill racks, this would be like raiding a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-style closet...for the highest bidder.

One of the auction's most curious pieces is the sole item from actress Sharon Tate. The actress, who was slain along with several others by members of the Manson Family in 1969, had a unique engagement ring she wore that night that TMZ says husband Roman Polanski took off her finger when he identified her body at the morgue. That ring has an opening bid of $10,000.00. Any takers?

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead.
