LAst Night's Action: Streaking Dodgers Sweep Padres

LA Dodgers defeat San Diego Padres 6-4. The Dodgers sweep the Padres and are on a five game winning streak heading into a weekend showdown against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nothing was more jaw-dropping than witnessing Angel Berroa hit his first homer since the bronze age. Starter Hiroki Kuroda wasn't quite so dominant as he had been at home giving up four runs on ten hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings. But the Dodgers capitalized on first-time starter Wade LeBlanc in his four innings of work that had him all over the plate except for the strike zone and a breaking ball that seemed to hang over the plate.
Detroit Tigers defeat LA Angels 9-6. The Angels broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the seventh after Chone Figgins walked and three singles brought him home, but they left the bases loaded with a 6-5 lead. That would come back to bite them when the Tigers scored twice against Jose Arredondo in the bottom of the seventh and two off of Justin Speier in the eighth. The bullpen did fail the Angels uncharacteristically, but with a 500-game lead in the division the Angels can afford a hiccup here and there. The time to worry is when this starts becoming a habit.
