Philadelphia Phillies defeat LA Dodgers 3-2. In a well pitched game, any mistake made is amplified. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, Derek Lowe just made one too many mistakes. The Dodgers got things started with back-to-back one out doubles by Andre Ethier and Manny Ramirez taking a 1-0 lead. In the fourth inning they showed their improved execution after Matt Kemp hit a second to advance to third on a Casey Blake grounder and Blake DeWitt sacrifice fly. But that sixth inning got to Lowe leaving two sinkerballs up for a two-run homer to Chase Utley and a solo go-ahead homer to Pat Burrell. It's only game one so there's no need to panic.

LA Clippers defeat LA Lakers 107-80. The second game of the preseason for the Lakers came with the hope that the defense would step up. Too bad the Clipper's defense was the one that showed up. What also didn't help were the 25 turnover committed by the purple and gold. The Clippers looked more like the team that represented the Western Conference in the NBA Finals, but after all it is the preseason. After the first preseason game Laker's head coach Phil Jackson said that Lamar Odom was curling. I can't wait to hear the comments after this game.

Notable Notes

  • For those of you have the number of games until Adam (nee Pacman) Jones got into trouble as five, congratulations. You win! Tuesday night it seems that Jones and his bodyguard, aka the babysitter the Cowboys hired to make sure he didn't get into trouble, started kidding each other which escalated into a fight in a Dallas hotel bathroom. Police made no arrests, and no charges were filed. However with the scrutiny Jones is under by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. While Jones isn't being suspended by the Cowboys it is unsure whether Goodell will crack down.
  • Terrorist sympathizer, hockey mom extraordinaire and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will drop the puck at the Philadelphia Flyer's home opener on Saturday. She better hope the economy gets somewhat better between now and then. After all this is a group of people who booed Santa Claus. I must say that knowing Philadelphia fans it could be argued that they themselves are a terrorist group. Any questions about that can be directed to the jail and courtroom built into Lincoln Financial Field.
