Notable Notes

  • And just like that the Dodgers finish up their stay at Camelback Ranch. Clayton Kershaw got lit up by the A's giving up seven runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout as the Dodgers lose 9-5. The Dodgers have two more games in Arizona against the Diamondbacks and Giants before coming back to LA on Thursday to play an exhibition game against the Angels at Dodger Stadium. With the need for pitching the Dodgers signed reliever Will Ohman to a Minor League deal.
  • After John Calipari's Memphis Tigers helped break my bracket Thursday night in their regional semifinal loss to Missouri, the rumor is he will fill the vacancy at Kentucky who just ousted Billy Gillespie after two seasons. Rumor has it that at a players meeting Monday morning Calipari told his players that Kentucky is the Notre Dame of college basketball. He's right of course. Like Notre Dame Kentucky is a once great program that has fallen into irrelevance over the years. My hunch says that Calipari will bolt to Kentucky.
  • If you caught 60 minutes Sunday night, you might have seen Steve Kroft interview LeBron James. Previously I have always thought that the Evil Four Letter Network did the softest interviews, but after watching this piece I've had a change of mind. Are you kidding me? "How's Akron these days?" "What do people get when they buy into the LeBron James brand?" Gag me with a fucking spoon. Oh by the way if you're on a real computer aka a PC running Windows, then you can't watch the video. Hey CBS. Great online video player schmucks.
  • As my interest in March Madness severely waned after the opening round, the LAist Bracket Challenge Extravaganza is still going strong. "Leapin' Lizards" has a six point lead over "Bracketology" and "JK's Picks" going into the Final Four. The winner will win an XBOX 360 Elite thanks to the lovely folks at Microsoft for whom I'm practicing to unhinge my jaw.
