LA Dodgers defeat Chicago Cubs 2-1. Who knew Randy Wolf would give the Dodgers such great performances? Wolf took to the Friendly Confines going seven-plus innings giving up one run on six hits and a walk with seven strike outs. The only run he gave up was the first batter of the eighth inning Bobby Scales hitting a pinch hit homer to stir the Wrigley crowd. Ramon Troncoso didn't make things easy practically refusing to throw a strike. In both the eighth and ninth innings the tying runs were in scoring position, but Troncoso managed to get out of the jam both times. Juan Pierre went 2-for-4 with a stolen base which is good for me since I signed him as a free agent on my fantasy team.

Chicago Fire defeat Chivas USA 3-2. A questionable foul call in the box in the fifth minute of stoppage time in the second half led to Cuauhtemoc Blanco's penalty kick goal to give the Fire the victory. Leading 2-1 Chivas looked in good position to win the game until Jesse Marsch was given a red card in the 63rd minute. While Chivas held off the Fire down one man, Patrick Nyarko scored in the 89th minute to tie the game. A lot of Blanco fans were cheering him on at the Home Depot Center in his final road game before joining the Mexican National Team for the upcoming 2010 World Cup Qualifiers. Chivas drops to 7-2-3 for the season but remains at first place overall in MLS with 24 points.
