  • With Juan Pierre possibly coming back tonight from the disabled list, bad things could happen. According to Tony Jackson of the Daily News, Joe Torre is non-committal about how the outfield will shake out when Pierre comes back. Excuse me? This is a no brainer if there ever was one in baseball. Andruw Jones needs to sit on the bench. Actually send him to Class A, AA or AAA whatever. Just get him out of here. Then this next one takes the cake. According to Diamond Leung of The Press-Enterprise, Torre will most likely put Pierre in the lead off spot.

    "He doesn't give us the power that Kemp gives us, but he knows how to lead off," Torre said of Pierre.

    Pierre knows how to lead off? The question should be, "Does Torre know the job of a lead off hitter?" A lead off hitter gets on base. Pierre doesn't get on base. Matt Kemp does. Get ready to grab your Costco-sized bottle of Pepto Bismol.

  • Dodgers fans, keep your assholes clenched for another week. The trading deadline is next Thursday and it's scary since Ned Colletti is controlling things. Could he trade for another Julio Lugo? How about trading the farm away for two-month rental Mark Teixeira? As awful as this Dodger lineup looks at times, the thought of Colletti going through the candy store is even more frightening. If nothing happens by next week, there will be a huge sigh of relief coming from East Hollywood.
  • By the way, the Angels should also do nothing. Their hitting is starting to come around, and they have the best pitching staff up and down.
