LAst Night's Action: Angels Get One in Detriot

We need to hear from you.
Today during our spring member drive, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

LA Angels defeat Detroit Tigers 4-2. The Angels won a game! Jered Weaver (W, 11-7) tossed seven innings of two-run ball to get the Angels back into the left side of the ledger. Torii Hunter with a two-run homer in the first inning and another two-spot in the second inning off of Justin Verlander (L, 12-7) gave Weaver all the run support he needed. Hunter and manager Mike Scioscia were ejected in the eighth inning for arguing a third-strike call at the knees by home plate umpire Ron Kulpa. Hunter got really heated, came too close to Kulpa and might be subject to an additional suspension. Brian Fuentes (S, 21) after walking leadoff hitter Jhonny Peralta in the ninth retired the side for the save.

Washington Nationals defeat LA Dodgers 6-3. Read my recap of the game .

NOTABLE NOTES

Knicks < Clippers?. Fired New York Knicks general manager and current Florida International University head coach Isiah Thomas has rejoined the Knicks as a consultant. He will be doing that concurrent with coaching FIU. Thomas said he checked with the NCAA to see if he could do both jobs at the same time. Thomas, fired from the Knicks in April 2008, went 7-25 and 4-14 in the Sun Belt Conference with FIU. He also was part of the Knicks’ contingent that went to Cleveland to try and woo the then-free agent LeBron James. Why Knicks’ owner James Dolan wants Thomas to return to the team that he so effectively destroyed is beyond me. At least Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling severs all ties, right?

Worst Intentional Pitching. This piece of video teaches a lesson: when a pitcher intentionally walks someone, NEVER write it down as an intentional walk until the batter is jogging to first base. This site gives you all the background you need to know . Enjoy!
