LA Lakers defeat Memphis Grizzlies 99-89. The Grizzlies had won five of their last seven games against the Lakers in Staples Center, but after losing their last two games the Lakers were determined not to let that happen. They forced the Grizzlies to just 41% shooting which gave the Lakers faithful their tacos. While this wasn't a great game by any stretch of the imagination for the Lakers, a win is a win. Lakers fans: you can breathe.

Columbus Blue Jackets defeat LA Kings 5-4. After the Blue Jackets went out to a 3-1 lead in the second period the Kings stormed back to score three goals in 1:55 to stun the Ohio crowd. But the Kings couldn't hold on losing their last four games of their five game road trip. With a 2-6-2 record in their last 10 games, the Kings hopes for a playoff spot is dwindling away.

Chicago Blackhawks defeat Anaheim Ducks 3-2 (OT). The Ducks meanwhile are still in position to make the playoffs, but the loss in overtime prevented them from jumping up to the seventh seed in the West.

Notable Notes

  • Oh the Evil Four-Letter how silly you can be sometimes. After ESPN Deportes' Enrique Rojas reported that Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers have come to terms on a two-year $45 million deal, they had to correct themselves. Basically the only news is that Manny is on his way to LA, and that Dodgers owner Frank McCourt is talking to Manny and agent Scott Boras. Yeah. Breaking news.Meanwhile Tony Jackson is reporting that McCourt wants to meet Manny face to face before finalizing the deal. So from the sound of it we should have word that Manny will sign tomorrow. But with Scott Boras and his history with the Dodgers, anything is possible at this point.

  • And oh Matty V. While watching the MLB Network I witnessed Matt Vasgersian let out an F-bomb on live tv. Lesson one for broadcasters: if you are wearing a mic pretend you're on live tv even if the mic isn't hot. No word yet if any repercussions will come from this.
