LA Galaxy tie Houston Dynamo 2-2. This is the first professional soccer match I have attended, and it was a ton of fun. Landon Donavan made a spectacular diving header goal in the 67th minute off of a David Beckham pass that gave me the chills. But blah blah blah. The story of the night was meeting my new boyfriend Abel Xavier (pictured left). He is a defenseman born in Mozambique and has played for the Portugal national team. With a head of hair like that, how can I resist?

Atlanta Braves defeat LA Dodgers 4-1. Andruw Jones has gotten a warm reception in his former home. Perhaps all that warmth helped him hit that solo homer in the second inning yesterday. But that's all she wrote for the Dodgers. Should we be worried that the Dodgers can't score any runs off of a team whose pitching staff is decimated by injuries? Or should we be worried that Grady Little's lineups are looking good right about now. Beh. It's only April.

LA Angels defeat Seattle Mariners 4-1. For a team whose best two pitchers are still on the DL, the Angels have gotten some good pitching. Ervin Santana came up big for the Halos giving up only one run and three hits in eight innings while striking out eight and walking no batters. It's hard to beat that kind of performance.

Cleveland Gladiators defeat LA Avengers 83-69. Avengers turned the ball over four times and succumbed to the aerial assault from Gladiator's quarterback Raymond Philyaw. They are now 3-5 and fall a game behind division leading San Jose.

UCSB Gauchos defeat USC Trojans 23-2. If you couldn't guess, this is a baseball score. The Trojans' pitching staff gave up 19 hits, 10 walks and hit five batters. The Gauchos batted around three times in the game and posted five runs in the third and seventh innings and seven runs in the sixth. Um, pitching anyone?

Today's Action

Denver Nuggets at LA Lakers. Perhaps the most lopsided matchup in the Western Conference playoffs isn't too lopsided. The Lakers just need to remember to drive to the paint in order to collapse the Nuggets defenders. Ok. I made a funny. Nonetheless, the Lakers win in five. 12:00 noon, ABC 7, AM 570 KLAC.

Seattle Mariners at LA Angels. The Angels just keep going and going. Dustin Moseley hopes to have a better outing this afternoon after being shellacked by the Rangers. Miguel Batista will start for the Mariners. 12:35 pm KCOP 13, AM 830 KLAA.

LA Dodgers at Atlanta Braves. The headline for Ken Gurnick's article on MLB.com was, "Dodgers may tinker with lineup in finale." Isn't that what Torre has been doing all season long? Anyhow Hiroki Kuroda goes to the mound for the Dodgers against Jair Jurrjens. 10:30 am KCAL 9, TBS, AM 790 KABC.

FC Dallas at Chivas USA. Chivas look to get back on the winning track against the Dallas club they tied in the first game of the season on the road. 5:00 pm FSN West.
