Pittsburgh Pirates defeat LA Dodgers 6-4. The Dodgers were leading 4-3 in the top of the ninth, and I had just finished writing this blurb. Dodger closer Takashi Saito gave up two singles then the Earl Weaver to the Pirates Nate McClouth. This was a rough loss despite a good outing by Hiroki Kuroda who gave up three runs on six innings. Andruw Jones hit a triple and look to resemble the hitter we thought he was going to be. And of course there was Vin Scully butchering Pirates first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz's name.

LA Angels over Texas Rangers 7-4. Pitcher Ervin Santana started out shaky giving up three runs in the first inning after getting two from his teammates. After a bases loaded double play that got Santana out of the third inning, he turned it on finding the strike zone. The Angels offense gave Santana all the support he needed scoring two in the first, three in the second and two in the fifth. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save, and the Rangers continue to look bad.

Tonight at the Stadium the Dodgers celebrate the 61st anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier. The pregame ceremonies will be hosted by Lou Gossett Jr. and the national anthem will be sung by Chaka Khan. The 11 Jackie Robinson foundation scholars will be recognized, and Don Newcombe will throw out the first pitch along with Robinson's niece Kathy Robinson Young. The cherry on top will be the Dodgers all wearing 42 in honor of Robinson.

After Sunday, there was still a chance for the Lakers to fall to the #3 seed in the NBA playoffs due to tie breaker rules with the Houston Rockets. Lakers fans can breathe a sigh of relief because the Rockets lost to the Utah Jazz on the road 105-96. If the Lakers win tonight against the Sacramento Kings, the #1 seed will be theirs alone.

Tonight's Action

Sacramento Kings at LA Lakers. It's really simple. If the Lakers win, they get home-court advantage during the Western Conference playoffs. However given the Laker's history of playing down to competition and their struggles against the Kings, I wouldn't count this as an easy victory. 7:30 pm FSN West, AM 570 KLAC.

Pittsburgh Pirates at LA Dodgers. After a fugly loss the Dodgers come back to celebrate the legacy of Jackie Robinson. Hong Chih Kuo will start for the Dodgers in place of Esteban Loaiza, and Matt Morris will start for the Pirates. 7:10 pm FSN Prime Ticket, AM 790 KABC.

LA Angels at Texas Rangers. The Angels hope to keep their offense going while the Rangers just pray. Dustin Moseley hopes to bring his 7+ ERA down against the Rangers Kevin Millwood who is shutting down hitters despite his 1-2 record. 11:05 am FSN West, AM 830 KLAA.

Anaheim Ducks at Dallas Stars. It's now or never for the Ducks. Down 2-0 against the Stars, they need to win this game to have any glimmer of hope to get back into this series. 5:30 pm KDOC 56, AM 830 KLAA.

LA Clippers at New Orleans Hornets. The Clippers could help the Lakers by beating the Hornets. HAhahahahhahahaha. Oh that's a good one. 5:00 pm KTLA 5, AM 710 KSPN.
