LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

Stories like these are only possible with your help!
You have the power to keep local news strong for the coming months. Your financial support today keeps our reporters ready to meet the needs of our city. Thank you for investing in your community.

The holidays are almost upon us. In the interest of equality, be sure to check out the Heeb show this week. Or for nondenominational comedy, try the Bob's Holiday Office Party show on Sunday. Anything else? Send Farley an email and let him know.

Monday 12/15

Funny Or Die: Super Secret Show, 8p Largo. If this show is anything like other FoD engagements, expect some high-profile celebs (most likely a John C. Reilly appearance) to show videos, do some sketch, and a bunch of Q & A comedy.

The Armando Show, 9p iO. Improv beasts like Mike Coleman tackle the monologues of some (usually) pretty famous peeps in this long-form crowd pleaser.

Heeb Storytelling, 9:30p M Bar. One of the better story-format shows to run in LA, Matt Besser (UCB) hosts a night of Jewish revelry. Just in time for the holidays.

Tuesday 12/16

Standing Tall, 8p The Improv. Kids and young adults from across America who create their own comedy material get on stage to help ensure the future of comedy for years to come.

Tuesday Night Thunder, 8p Sierra Stage. Free comedy and cheap beer from many of the UCB minds.

Wednesday 12/17

Pretty Funny Women, 8p The Improv. Another installment of the great ladies line up we so rarely get to see in stand up comedy. Stay late for the Comedy Juice.

Sixteen Comics, 9p Comedy Store. Expect Ari Shaffir, Bobby Lee, and Al Madrigal at least. If it's a good night, hold out for Brody Stevens.

Thursday 12/18

Santasia, 8p Whitefire Theatre. Dudes in drag lampoon the most sacred seasonal stories with some sweet sketch comedy.

East 14th, 8p Comedy Union. A character-heavy one man show by Don Reed. Last chance to see the show in LA before it moves to NYC.

Friday 12/19

3-On-3 Improv Tournament Finals, 11p UCB. Help crown the 3-On-3 improv champs at the most highly touted improv theatre in LA. Only the strongest will survive.

Stranger Than Fiction, 9p LA Connection. If you live in the Valley (shudder) this long-running house team is always worth a look.

Saturday 12/20

FrankenMatt, 8p Second City. Outstanding, outrageous two-man sketch comedy from some seasoned veterans.

Seth & Ed's Puppet Talk Show, 10p UCB. Ed Helms (Andy from The Office) and Seth Morris (everything good ever) combine to blow your effing mind with the best format for a talk show featuring puppets since...ever.

Sunday 12/21

Bob's Holiday Office Party, 7p Zephyr Theatre. A staged version of what your office holiday party should be, or could be, if you get a little more drunk this year. Here's hoping you wake up with regrets.

Big News, 9p iO. Timely news-related sketches based on the week that was.
