Video: Kanye Shows Support To Caitlyn Jenner In 'I Am Cait'
Kanye West made a surprise appearance on last night's premiere of Caitlyn Jenner's reality TV show, E!'s I Am Cait, and was actually rather sweet in this heartwarming scene.
The 38-year-old rapper joined his pregnant wife, Kim Kardashian, in visiting Jenner's Malibu home. While Kardashian praised Jenner for looking beautiful, West gave Jenner kudos for her public transition. "I mean I think this is one of the strongest things that have happened in our existence as human beings that are so controlled by perception," he tells Jenner in the clip. "'Cause you couldn't have been up against more. Your daughter's a supermodel, you're a celebrity, you have every type of thing. And it was still like, 'Fuck everybody, this is who I am.'"
It was a pretty touching moment as Jenner says that she and West have never been really close. "But I love his open-mindedness and how he's helped Kim come to grips with what's going on," Jenner says.
This isn't the first time Jenner has spoken out about West helping her former stepdaughter come to terms with her transition. In the April interview with Diane Sawyer, Jenner said Kardashian credited her husband for making her accepting of everything. Kardashian told Jenner that West said, "I could be married to the most beautiful girl, and I am. I can have the most beautiful daughter in the world—I have that. But I'm nothing if I can't be me, if I can't be true to myself, they don't mean anything."
West has surprisingly tried to stay out of the limelight in his wife's E! show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, though he did make a decision to appear on I Am Cait, which makes his cameo kind of a big deal.
'I Am Cait' airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. on E!.
