When Netflix originally signed on to air a new season of "Arrested Development," producers of the show were planning on making ten episodes.

But Deadline Hollywood reports that during filming, extra footage was shot and producer Mitch Hurwitz decided to add more episodes, bringing the total to somewhere between 12 and 15. This has meant that filming will continue throughout the beginning of the new year, although Hurwitz is reportedly taking his time to review the footage they have and determine exactly how the new storylines will work.

Meanwhile, fans of the show should be getting extremely excited, according to a Netflix spokeswoman:

“We are thrilled with the direction of the show, with the footage we have seen and with the relationship between Mitch, Imagine, 20th and Netflix,” she told Deadline. “At this time, we are not confirming or announcing the final episode count but we are sure fans will be thrilled when we do.”
