We heard a familiar voice on the radio while flipping through the radio dial last night. No, it wasn’t the ubiquitous Ryan Seacrest or even Rick Dees (count your blessings). It was Lisa Foxx, Seacrest’s old partner on Star 98.7.

For those not around to remember, she was the one who kept him tolerable on that show; they seemed to actually like each other, which is a seemingly rare thing in radio and TV partnerships. (Yeah you know that Colleen and Paul are just kicking each other under that NBC 4 news desk.)

After taking a few months off following the cancellation of her afternoon drive-time show with Jason Pullman (a Seacrest sound-alike), Foxx showed back up on Star’s 7 PM to whenever shift last night. She sounded genuinely happy to be back on-air, and the listeners who called in seemed happy to have her back.

We hope that Foxx sticks around for awhile. After years of being the female sidekick to these lame DJs, it’s about time they gave her a show of her own. Though we didn’t think it was possible, Star 98.7 has gotten lamer over the past few months – going through an identity crisis of sorts, trying to copy Jack 93.1, etc. (Its website--in Clear Channel cookie cutter format, natch--still doesn’t mention Foxx anywhere.)

But we hope this move is a start of straightening out the ship. Now if they would only do something about that Jamie, Jack & Stench show…
