Dr. Dre Hawks for Chrysler With Ad Showing Moody Ride Through DTLA at Night
According to rap icon Dr. Dre, what "we" do in L.A. is drive around Downtown in the dark, dark night, in a dark, dark car with a kickin' stereo system. So are you buying what he's selling?
The ad is part of the American car company's "Imported from Detroit" campaign. The Dr. Dre "Good Things" 60-second spot is meant to be all about the audio, as explained in an email:
Our latest spot, “Good Things” features Dr. Dre and The Beats by Dr. Dre audio system which is redefining the approach to premium audio. The Beats experience was designed to replicate the audio experience the artist has inside the recording studio and is available with the all-new 2012 Chrysler 300S. Now you can hear music the way Dr. Dre himself does.
Of course, the ad doesn't show a brutal rush hour commute on the 405 or the morning drop-the-kids-off-at-school ride, where that charming sound system might not be such an enchanted experience for our fellow motorists.
Dre, whose "concept" album Detox has been stalling towards release since 2009, is no stranger to the advertising game. He debuted a single from Detox in a Dr. Pepper commercial.
