As basketball season winds to an end, it's time to find a new sport to enjoy. And to satisfy not just their athletic craving but their mustache/retro/costume/repressed anger cravings as well, some folks are turning to dodgeball. According to a statement released yesterday by the World Dodgeball Society, three Eastside leagues will kick off the spring season at "The Burt: Dodgeball Tourney & Mustache Expo," set to take place on April 29th and 30th and named in honor of everyone's favorite sporter of facial hair, Burt Reynolds. A similar event was held at the Staples Center last year.

The April 29th event will be held at the Shatto Rec Center in Koreatown, and will feature women's, men's and co-ed games, as well as a "Fastest Burt" (or, fastest ball-thrower) competition. For the April 30th event, which will be held at the Bellevue Rec Center in Silver Lake, teams can register for easy-going or more advanced ball-play, and games are mustache-mandatory, according to the tournament's website.

Eastside division league games will begin a few weeks before the tournament: the Silver Lake league starts up on April 11, the Elysian Valley league begins games on April 14, and the Eagle Rock league will start on April 26. Teams are made up of 20 people, and it's $55 a person to play.
