CD Review: 3 Recent Offerings from Six Degrees Records

Six Degrees Records has had a very busy Q1 - below are just a few of their recent releases and there's a lot more to come according to their release schedule.
If you've watched PBS or listened to public radio then you know about the indefatigable travel expert Rudy Maxa, host of radio's "Savvy Traveler" and TV's "Smart Travels: (Insert Continent Here) with Rudy Maxa". "Music From Rudy Maxa's World" is both a great international audio tour as well as a perfect introduction to the kinds of artists and music that Six Degrees Records represents. I'm a big fan of samplers and this is a good one.

Last June we reviewed (way before the LA Times BTW) Latin Grammy winner Ojos de Brujo's incredible album and they've gone ahead and released a live recording of the songs. Also included in the release is a DVD of their 2006 Barcelona performance, a video diary, music videos, and other extras. I you saw their great free performance in downtown LA last summer, here's a chance to re-live it a bit (and then some).

A few months ago we reviewed the original Dub Qawwali release by Gaudi and Rusrat Fateh Ali Khan. This is a great collection of remixes of just a few of the tracks on the album, but each remix is so incredibly different one would never know.
