Brokechella: The Poor Person’s Coachella Alternative Tonight in Downtown LA

If you’re bummed out that you didn’t make it to the desert this weekend for a little music festival—don’t fret. While many of our friends are baking in 90+ degree heat and getting up close to the sights and, umm, smells of Coachella, the Ahimsa Collective and RentFoodBroke are throwing Brokechella tonight at the Airliner for the rest of us who’ve been left behind, are poor or don’t like getting hot and dirty—literally—with our neighbors.

The Airliner on North Broadway is where Thom Yorke spun a secret show last month, and tonight local comedians, visual artists and bands will perform on two stages, featuring tons of original music and covers of their favorite Coachella acts. The Grilled Cheese Truck will be parked outside from 9-midnight and there will be two indoor bars for your liquid needs,

The festivities begin at 8:30 pm tonight with DJs Houser MD and Rob Von Boogie on separate stages, with more than a dozen live bands and comedy. We see that Jimmy Wong, who did that hilarious YouTube song parody/response to ex-UCLA coed Alexandra Wallace, takes to stage 2 at 9:05 pm.

How much is all this going to set you back? A whopping $5.
