The Holidays are not good for criminals with weapons or pretend weapons. A Valley Traffic Division (VTD) Officer shot and killed a man after a 15-minute pursuit when the assailant pulled an object and pointed it like a gun at the officer. It was a spark plug socket. The end of the pursuit was broadcast live on the local news.

Acronym of the day: OIS (Officer Involved Shooting).

Finally! MTA's Transit Access Pass (you know those TAP Here boxes?) is explained: "Prepaid 'smart cards' would provide access to buses and trains from 11 regional agencies."
