A man was stabbed to death in Eagle Rock after trying to rescue his son from a fight on the Fourth of July.

The incident took place near the intersection of Figueroa Street and La Loma Road around 8 p.m. on Saturday evening. According to KTLA, the 53-year old man was stabbed to death by two attackers after trying to break up a fight involving his son.

The two attackers fled, but were later arrested by LAPD around 10:45 p.m. after a perimeter was established to find them. The suspects have not been identified, but the L.A. Times says they are both males, aged 25 and 45.

Authorities have not said what the motive for the attack was, nor released any information on the victim's son.
