Dump Truck Driver Flees The Scene After He Crashes Into South L.A. Market
The driver of a dump truck fled the scene when he crashed into a corner store in South L.A. shortly before 1 a.m. The owner of the store was sleeping inside when it happened, but he was unharmed.
At about 12:50 a.m., a dump truck driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the La Fuente De Oro Market at East 68th Street and Compton Avenue in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone neighborhood. KTLA reports that the California Highway Patrol are working on a lead that the truck was stolen.
The owner of the store, Muhammad Dharabayi, was sleeping inside the store because of recent break-ins according to City News Service. He did not catch a glimpse of anyone getting out of the truck because of his vantage point from inside the store.
Markings on the truck read Garcia Brothers Hauling and Demolition, and one of the owners of the truck company told CHP that the truck was stolen about eight blocks away.
Building inspectors from the county were there this morning assessing the damage and red-taping the building.
