The proposed sign district for the Miracle Mile area

The proposed sign district for the Miracle Mile area
The LA Weekly takes a look at the proposed billboard/supergraphic/major advertising/Blade Runner districts for Los Angeles. There are 21 in all, spread out from the Valley to downtown to San Pedro (map of each area can be downloaded here). The Planning Commission, who Dennis Hathaway at Ban Billboard Blight profiles, took a look at them last week, but could not come to a conclusion, tabling it for today's meeting. Of course, not everyone thinks the sign controversy is that bad, including LA Times architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne and Sam Hall Kaplan, former Times design critic and Fox News Reporter.
