Anyone who thought the Lakers would just continue to roll through their West rivals without Shaq was proven wrong last night. The San Antonio Spurs were a cut above the Lakers the whole way en route to a 105-96 win. Of course, even with Shaq, the Lakers needed a Derek Fisher miracle to beat San Antonio. But LA just didn't have the horses to slow down Tim Duncan, and contain Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. The big difference though was probably 14 points from Rasho Nesterovic.

The Lakers still had some positive signs. Aside from Kobe Bryant's 28 points, Lamar Odom finally came on strong with 24 points and 11 boards. While Chris Mihm is no Shaq, he continues to be mild surprise with his pseudo adequate play. LAist can see potential in him. While this Lakers team isn't in the Spurs league yet, they shouldn't just be taken for granted. Give the Lakers and Rudy T some time to build.
