Crossing The T

The NBA's worst-kept secret is finally out, and Rudy Tomjanovich will officially become the Head Coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. LAist has already commented on Rudy T several times. At this point we recognize he's probably the best coach out there if the Lakers want to feign competitiveness next season, even though he may not be the man who can keep Kobe and Shaq together.
One ironic angle that hasn't been mentioned though is that Tomjanovich will now coach for the team which is responsible for nearly ending his life. Who can forget the famous punch from former Laker Kermit Washington that fractured Tomjanovich's face in over 20 places? The incident inspired a recent John Feinstein book.
