Surveillance video captured the violent robbery of a teenage girl in the lobby of her own apartment building. The Los Angeles Police Department describes the attack as "brutal," and are now asking the public's help in locating and apprehending the "aggressive and dangerous suspect."

The victim is an 18-year-old woman, who entered her apartment building lobby at about 10:10 p.m. the night of January 8. The LAPD explain the encounter:

The suspect approached the victim from behind, put his arm around her neck and tried to grab her cell phone. When the victim resisted, the suspect slammed her to the ground and punched her several times in the face and the stomach. The suspect attempted to take her purse, but instead took her cell phone. As the suspect began walking toward the front door, the victim ran after him and tried to take her phone back. The suspect turned around, punched the victim several more times in her face then walked out the lobby door.

The suspect has been described as male, Hispanic, 25-25 years old, 5'5" and approximately 180-200 pounds. During the attack, he was wearing jeans, a white t-shirt with black printing on the front and back of the shirt and black shoes
