Community Holds Memorial Service for 'Grim Sleeper' Victims on 25th Anniversary of First Murder
Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary since the alleged "Grim Sleeper" serial killer took his first victim, and in order to observe the sober occasion, a public memorial was held to honor all 10 of his victims, according to abc7.
During the evening gathering, "the message centered on forgiveness," though anger was omnipresent among those in attendance, including many family members of the killer's victims.
Last month, Lonnie Franklin Jr., the accused killer called the "Grim Sleeper" because of the long pause between sets of killings over the past quarter-century, was arrested, and many are calling for his execution. A sister of one of the victims spoke during yesterdays service: "I just want him to suffer for what he did to all these family members up in here."
