Four people were injured with superficial wounds on a Metro Red Line subway train at or near the Universal Red Line station after someone pulled out a pair of scissors this evening around 10:25 p.m. "Everyone is being detained and questioned at this point," said Lt. Greg Hinkel of the LA County Sheriff's. However, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that paramedics transported at least one person to a local area hospital.

Train service was suspended for about a half hour according to law enforcement, but the station remained closed for over an hour until 11:40 p.m. Calls to Metro were not returned and witnesses waiting to enter the station report that Metro officials did not have any information and no alternative methods of travel were offered.

Security in the general area was already heightened due to a V.I.P. event at Universal Studios. The 26th Annual Border Governors Conference was happening that included Governor Schwarzenegger, U.S. and Mexico governors of states that touch the border.

Update: The Daily News has a nice update on this story. Five people were hurt and one was sent to the hospital after a man and women were arguing on the platform. The woman took out a pair of scissors and lunged at the man and that when other people got involved.
