A UC Riverside college student convinced her alleged kidnapper to set her free after he bound her in his car in a parking garage near the campus on Sunday afternoon.

The woman called police at 4:17 p.m. to report the man forced her into his car and tied her up with something like a phone charger cable at the University Towers parking garage at 3500 Iowa Avenue, according to NBC Los Angeles. He briefly drove her around before dropping her off in the same garage.

She kept her cool and managed to convince the man to let her go, she told authorities. She wasn't seriously hurt.

Authorities are unclear about the man's motives and are searching for him. He's described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s with medium-length, dirty blonde hair. Also, he was reported wearing black clothing and driving a 2009 or newer charcoal gray four-door Nissan Sentra.
