With just a little more than half of the college football season past us, it’s become evident that no team wants to play for the national championship. No, not even undefeated Ohio State whose non-conference schedule included illustrious teams such as Youngstown State, Akron and Kent State.

As for the rest of college football, every other team that climbed atop of the corpses has subsequently fallen. See California and LSU last week and South Florida on Friday.

This season is the black plague of college football. There has not been a dominant team, and frankly it’s just been unwatchable. I really did try to get myself amped up to see South Florida at Rutgers Friday night, but the reruns over the New York Yankees World Series games during Joe Torre’s tenure on ESPN Classic was more compelling than that.

Even if we stick with the Pac-10, the football is horrible. One week Stanford upsets USC. Then California decides to tank it against Oregon State. And this week we have the UCLA team coming off of an inexplicable loss to Notre Dame defeating California. The same California team, mind you, that was ranked #2 in the country two weeks ago. To top it all off, UCLA is tied for first in the conference with Arizona State at 4-0.

I don’t know what to tell you guys. It’s been a topsy turvy season, and I can’t even begin to imagine what the bowl season will look like.

LAIST'S HOMO TOP 15 RANKINGS

I had take some time off since my ass just got laid off. My company has been nice enough to keep me on for another month, but I still have to schlep my ass off to interviews and take care of any loose ends before I leave. That includes writing detailed work instructions that made me want to poke my eyes out with paper clips. But knowing some of the readers out there, I bet y'all would have like that. Assholes.

So here's the list. I am begrudgingly putting Ohio State in the #1 spot because they are playing pretty well right now. I know they're not playing great teams (as I said earlier), but who would have thought USC would lose to Stanford or Cal would lose to UCLA?
