Somehow, LAist ended up on this unofficial Neighborhood Council e-mail blast list. Today, a humorous one came in about the DNC. The subject line is "Tell me CITY COUNCIL is not PARTY POLITICAL." The rest by the author, Daniel Wiseman, as follows:

The CITY COUNCIL will go into "recess" for the next two weeks. Why? ...because they have worked hard and earned a rest? NOOOOOO!!!!

Why? ...because they always do every summer? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Why? ...because they need the time to catch up with their paper work? NO!!!!

Why? ...because 13 of the 15 are Democrats and they are going to the
Democratic Convention!!!!

You can be sure that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is going, too!!!!

So who is left to watch the store? ....two Republican Council Members.

Are we in trouble or what?

We're not sure if all that is true, but rumors are that

Zuma Dogg will be running things by the time they get back.

Update: Mike Bonin, Chief of Staff at Councilmember Bill Rosendahl's office writes in to clarify that council has been taking a summer recess for the second half of August for years. He says that Rosendahl will not be at the DNC.
