Summer is upon us, friends, and we all know what that means: bbq's, swimsuits, and of course, wedding season. Crazed brides. Oblivious grooms. Overbearing mothers. All in search of the fairy tale day.

But how far will some brides go in order to make the day perfect? Apparently, quite far. Read on...

Live-In Fitness Enterprise (L.I.F.E.) is a Biggest Loser-style full-time weight loss program located in Santa Monica. Designed for people who are so serious about losing weight that they are willing to drop everything and spend as much time (and money) as it takes to reach their goals, participants live, eat and exercise on the campus by the beach.

"We started with the local boot camp," says owner owner Eric Viskovicz, "and then we realized that people were in destructive environments, and that we needed to take control of all the elements. We needed to have everything."

When Viskovicz thought about ways he might expand, he asked himself one pertinent question. “I was like, who really needs to lose weight fast?” he says. “And it’s brides.”

From there, he expanded his program to include a little something called Bridal Boot Camp.

Bridal Boot Camp is a sped-up version of the program that all clients go through at L.I.F.E., and it stops at nothing to shrink ladies into their dream size dress. A day in the life of a live fitness client - bride or otherwise - is exactly as regimented as one might expect. From the moment they wake up in the morning, clients’ days are scheduled. Which means that as soon as a client hops off the treadmill, a predetermined, individualized meal awaits them in the lounge area. Workouts last for approximately 5-6 hours a day, and run the gamut from spinning and running on sand dunes to yoga and water aerobics.

Sandwiched between working out and eating rationed meals, clients undergo therapy and meetings with nutritionists. Donna Gauthier, 43, a client who left her life in Bermuda behind for twelve weeks at the center, claims that therapy is a key part of the program. “Counseling is a way to look at it and say, I got to this point because of these issues.”

People concerned with their weight travel from around the world to take part in the program, and the results, according to not just Viskovicz but to his clients, are worth it.

“I love it here,” says Gauthier. “It’s not just a new chapter in my life,” she exudes, “It’s a new book.”

Brides exhibit the same amount of enthusiasm for the program and what they’ve been able to accomplish under Viskovicz’s supervision. One anonymous bride said, “My husband and I decided to renew our wedding vows and I had a crazy idea to get back into my original wedding dress.” After her stint at L.I.F.E., she said, “I fit back into my original wedding dress; only this time I had more body tone and more confidence.”

Safe to say that Viskovicz’s attitude is a touch extreme when it comes to weight loss. After all, not everyone would agree with his conviction that “No one ever dreams of ebing overweight on their wedding day.” Right - I know more than a few women who have and will walk proudly and hot-ly down the aisle with bodies of every size. But for those brides intent on getting their asses kicked all the way down to a size two, L.I.F.E. offers you just that opportunity.
